Happy Family Motorhome Hire
Important Information Before Your Journey
Welcome to Happy Family Motorhome Hire! We want your adventure with our 2024 Ford Swift Voyager 485 to be unforgettable and completely hassle-free. Below are the most important rules and tips to help you enjoy your trip. A full and comprehensive Rental Agreement containing all clauses and legal provisions is available for review during the booking process and will be provided for your signature on the day of collection.
1. Booking & Payments
Book Online:
All reservations are made online at: www.happyfamilymotorhomehire.co.uk
Minimum Rental Period:
Our motorhome is available for a minimum rental of 3 nights from our website. A minimum of 7 nights applies to bookings made through Goboony.
Booking Deposit:
A non-refundable booking deposit of 20% of the total rental price is required to secure your reservation.
Rental Fee Payment — Stripe:
The rental fee is collected securely online through Stripe Payments UK Ltd prior to collection. We do not store your card details. All payments must be made by the primary driver named on the Rental Agreement. Cash payments are not accepted.
Security Deposit:
A refundable security deposit is taken in person at the time of collection using our card terminal. This must be paid by credit card held in the name of the primary driver. The deposit amount depends on your driving history:

£1,250 (standard) — applies to most drivers with a clean or minor conviction history. Structured as: £1,000 insurance excess cover + £250 contractual penalties reserve.

£1,750 — applies if you have more than 2 minor convictions, or 1 conviction of 6+ points within the last 3 years. Structured as: £1,500 insurance excess cover + £250 contractual penalties reserve. This must be declared before booking.
The deposit will be refunded to the same card within 7 working days of return, following inspection. If any deductions are made, you will receive a written itemised statement.
Cancellation Policy:

More than 35 days before collection: booking deposit (20%) non-refundable; remainder refunded.

28–35 days before collection: 20% of total rental price.

21–28 days before collection: 50% of total rental price.

14–21 days before collection: 75% of total rental price.

14 days or less before collection: 100% non-refundable.

Same-day cancellation or no-show: 100% non-refundable. No exceptions.
2. Driver Requirements
Age:
All drivers must be between 30 and 75 years of age at the time of the rental.
Driving Licence:
All drivers must hold a full, valid driving licence and must have held it for a minimum of 2 years. We accept: full UK, EU, Australian (AU), and New Zealand (NZ) driving licences. USA, Canadian, and South African licences are not accepted.
Claims History:
No driver may have had more than one fault claim or accident in the last 5 years.
Driving Convictions:

No convictions — fully accepted.

1 or 2 minor convictions (e.g. SP30 speeding, 3 points each) — accepted as standard. .

One conviction of 6+ points received more than 3 years ago — accepted as standard.

More than 2 minor convictions, or a 6+ point conviction within the last 3 years — please contact us before booking. A higher excess of £1,500 and deposit of £1,750 applies.

Convictions with codes DR, DG, DD, BA, IN, or UT within the last 3 years, or a driving ban within the last 5 years — not accepted.
DVLA Licence Check Code (UK licence holders):
Please provide your DVLA Share Code in advance — generate it free at gov.uk/view-driving-licence. The code is valid for 21 days and must be generated no more than 21 days before collection.
Non-UK licence holders (EU, AU, NZ):
Please bring a signed written statement confirming any motor claims or driving convictions in the last 5 years. If none, a simple statement saying ‘I confirm I have had no motor claims or driving convictions in the last 5 years’ — signed and dated — is sufficient.
⚠ Failure to provide all required documents and meet our insurance criteria on collection day will result in immediate cancellation of your rental and forfeiture of your booking deposit. No refund will be given.
3. What to Bring on Collection Day
To ensure a smooth handover, all drivers must bring the following original documents. Photocopies and digital copies on a phone are not accepted — originals only:

Two proofs of address from different sources, dated within 90 days of the hire end date (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, council tax letter, payslip)

The credit card used for the security deposit must be present at collection and must be in the name of the primary driver.
4. Insurance & Liability
The motorhome is covered by a Comprehensive motor insurance policy. The policy also includes Public Liability insurance and Breakdown Cover provided by Call Assist.
Insurance Excess:
In the event of any damage for which you are responsible, you are liable for the insurance excess of £1,000, deducted from the security deposit. An additional excess of £500 applies if you have declared convictions as outlined in Section 2. A glass excess of £500 applies to windscreen or window damage.
Full Liability:
You bear full financial responsibility for all damages if caused by: gross negligence or intentional actions; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; misuse of the motorhome (e.g. off-road driving, unauthorised towing); misfuelling; breach of geographical restrictions; or driving by an unauthorised driver.
Personal Belongings:
We are not responsible for any loss or damage to your personal belongings. We strongly recommend arranging adequate personal travel insurance.
5. Collecting & Returning Your Motorhome
Collection:
Collection is from 3:00 PM on the first day of your rental at: 89 Hillview drive, Blantyre G72 9EE.
Return:
The motorhome must be returned by 10:00 AM on the final day of your rental to the same address.
Late Return:
Late returns are charged at £50 per commenced hour. If you need to extend your hire, please contact us at least 3 days in advance. Extensions are subject to availability and must be agreed in writing.
6. Motorhome Condition & House Rules
Fuel:
The motorhome is provided with a full tank of diesel and must be returned full. Diesel only — misfuelling will result in full repair costs being charged to you. LPG is provided free of charge — there is no requirement to refill gas cylinders before return.
Tanks:
The grey water tank and chemical toilet cassette must be emptied before return. A fee of £75 per tank applies if not completed.
Interior:
The motorhome must be returned clean and tidy, with all personal belongings removed and fridge and cupboards emptied. Heavy soiling requiring specialist cleaning: £100 fee.
No Smoking:
Strictly prohibited inside the motorhome at all times. A specialist cleaning fee of £250 applies. No exceptions.
No Pets:
Pets are not permitted inside the motorhome. A £200 sanitation fee applies if evidence of pets is found on return.
Maximum Passengers:
The motorhome accommodates a maximum of 5 passengers at all times. All passengers must be seated with seatbelts fastened while the vehicle is in motion.
Daily Checks:
You are responsible for conducting daily checks (e.g. oil, water, tyre pressure). Any issues must be reported to us immediately.
Fair Wear and Tear vs. Damage:
Minor superficial scratches under 25mm that do not penetrate the paintwork are considered fair wear and tear. Any damage larger than a £1 coin, deep scratches, or damage to mirrors, lights, windows, tyres, roof, or interior is considered damage — you are liable for the full cost of repair.
Hassle-Free Return Option (£200):
Available at booking. For £200 we take care of refuelling, emptying the grey water tank, emptying the toilet cassette, and refilling the LPG for you. The £100 interior cleaning fee still applies if the motorhome is returned heavily soiled.
7. Breakdowns & Road Incidents
Breakdown:
Breakdown cover is included with your hire, provided by Call Assist (available 24/7). In case of a breakdown, call us immediately on 07453469897 and then contact Call Assist directly on 01603 216366.
Accidents:
In the event of any accident or damage: (1) secure the scene; (2) call us within 1 hour on 07453469897; (3) call emergency services if required; (4) do NOT admit liability to any third party; (5) photograph all vehicles, damage, and the scene; (6) collect the details of all other parties and witnesses; (7) complete and submit the Accident Report Form within 24 hours.
Renter’s Liability:
You are responsible for all costs arising from your own negligence or misuse, including running out of fuel or driving on a flat tyre.
8. Geographic & Legal Restrictions
UK Only:
The motorhome may only be used within the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, and Channel Islands). Travel outside the UK is strictly prohibited and will void the insurance cover. A contractual penalty of £5,000 applies per confirmed breach.
Roads:
Driving on unpaved roads or off-road is strictly forbidden.
Sub-letting:
Re-renting or sub-letting the motorhome to any third party by any means (including Airbnb, Facebook Marketplace, or similar platforms) is strictly prohibited.
Fines & Tolls:
You are responsible for all road tolls, parking fees, congestion charges, and fines incurred during the rental period.
9. Final Provisions
This document provides a summary of our rental terms. A full and comprehensive Rental Agreement containing all clauses and legal provisions is available for review during the booking process and will be provided for your signature on the day of collection. In the event of any conflict between this summary and the full Rental Agreement, the full Rental Agreement prevails.
