Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

COLLECTION AND RETURN

1. Where do I collect and return the motorhome?

We are based at 89 Hillview Drive, Blantyre, G72 9EE — just 10 minutes from Glasgow city centre. Free parking is available for your own vehicle during your hire.

2. What are the collection and return times?

Collection is from 2:00 PM and return by 11:00 AM. We are flexible where possible — just let us know your preferred times and we will do our best to accommodate you.

3. How long does the handover take?

Please allow approximately one hour for collection. We will walk you through the motorhome fully, demonstrate all equipment, answer any questions, and make sure you feel completely confident before you set off.

4. Can I leave my own car with you during the hire?

Yes, free parking is available at our property for the duration of your hire. Your vehicle will be safe while you explore Scotland.

ON THE ROAD IN SCOTLAND

1. Can I take the motorhome on a ferry to Scottish islands?

Yes! The motorhome can be taken on ferries to Scottish islands including Skye, Mull and Arran. The ferry operator will ask for the vehicle registration, length and height. Our dimensions are: length 7.54m, width 2.37m, height 2.98m.

2. Is wild camping allowed with a motorhome in Scotland?

Scotland has some of the most generous access rights in the world. Under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, you can park overnight in most unenclosed areas as long as you behave responsibly, leave no trace, and do not stay more than two or three nights in one spot. Always follow the principle: take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints.

3. Any tips for driving in the Scottish Highlands?

Many Highland roads are single track — always use passing places correctly. Pull over to let faster traffic pass. Take your time — the roads are built for scenery, not speed. Download offline maps before heading into remote areas. Stock up on fuel and provisions before heading deep into the Highlands — petrol stations can be scarce.

4. Are pets allowed in the motorhome?

Unfortunately we do not allow pets in our motorhome.

5. What is the best time of year to visit Scotland by motorhome?

Scotland is beautiful year-round. Summer (June–August) offers the longest days and warmest weather but can be busy. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer stunning colours and fewer crowds. Winter is magical — dramatic skies and empty roads. Our motorhome has full heating so you can travel comfortably in any season.

PRICING AND PRACTICALITIES

1. How much does it cost to hire a motorhome in Scotland?

Our motorhome hire starts from £570 for 3 nights. All prices include insurance, unlimited mileage, bedding, towels and a welcome pack. There are no hidden fees.

2. What driving licence do I need to hire a motorhome in Scotland?

You only need a standard Category B driving licence — the same licence you use for a car. Our Ford Swift Voyager 485 weighs 3,500kg so no special licence is required. You must have held your licence for at least 2 years and be between 23 and 75 years old.

3. Can I hire a motorhome near Glasgow Airport?

We are based in Blantyre, just 10 minutes from Glasgow city centre. If you are flying into Glasgow Airport, we can arrange to collect you — just let us know your flight details when booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

4. Is the North Coast 500 suitable for a motorhome?

Yes — the NC500 is one of the most popular motorhome routes in Scotland and our Ford Swift Voyager 485 is perfectly suited for it. The route covers approximately 500 miles of stunning Highland scenery. Some sections include single-track roads so patience is key — always use passing places correctly. We recommend planning at least 7–10 nights to enjoy the route fully. We are happy to share our personal tips and recommended stops when you collect the motorhome.
